Ananth Pullela has been a vegetarian for much of his life. He has been less than pleased with what he found on the menus when dining out with his wife who is also a vegetarian. Restaurant menus are typically geared towards meat-options kicked up a notch with the likes of teriyaki, honey barbecue and chipotle flavors, while meatless options would end up being a veggie burger (usually tasted like cardboard), penne pasta topped with marinara sauce (if luck favored), or rice and beans with bunch of chopped vegetables tossed on top (c’mon give them a break!).
Sure, he was aware of the vegetarian cuisine’s potential. He knew there is more to it than a bunch of boiled or grilled veggies tossed in a bowl. He saw an opportunity – envisioned a restaurant – a place where vegetarians can indulge in a variety of flavorful plant-based creations, while meat lovers can enjoy the exciting side of plant-based cuisine like never before, without compromising on the nutritional values such as proteins.
He wanted to offer a menu that would encapsulate flavors that all of us have come to enjoy for years – but only plant-based! Then he met Chef Kevin. They’ve put together a menu that would do just that! Thus, Jazzy Veggie is born – a quick-casual eatery that would be sure to satisfy vegetarians and meat lovers alike. Jazzy Veggie is proud and honored to make Ann Arbor its home!
